Finances should never be a barrier to becoming a foster carer. Our generous payments are designed to ease financial pressures, allowing you to focus on what truly matters, creating meaningful, joyful moments with the children and young people you support.
​​HOME’s financial package for foster carers includes the following:

Fostering Allowance
Foster Carers will receive an allowance to cover the costs of looking after each child and young people that is placed with you. In addition to this, foster carers will receive a professional fee to recognise and reward the incredible role they play.
This is paid based on the age of children and young people and scales higher if you’re looking after more than one child or young person.
HOME Rent Subsidy
Rent/mortgage is almost always the biggest monthly expense for all of us. At HOME, we’re here to help you move into larger properties so that you can fulfil your dreams as a foster carer.

We want to help give you property security and as such will provide an ongoing contribution towards the rental cost of your property for the entire period you foster for HOME.

Moving HOME Grant
We recognise the financial challenges of moving home and want to make this as easy and painless for you as possible. Our Moving HOME Grant will help you with expenses like the rent deposit, initial rent costs while you’re settling into your new home before any children and placed with you and new furniture and furnishings for your home.
Separate to all of this though is a budget we'll give you to buy personalised items for the foster children’s bedrooms once you know who will be moving in and what their interests are – things like duvet sets and posters for the walls.
